Among all the cities I visited on this trip, Český Krumlov stole my heart. It’s small enough that you can walk through all its streets in half a day, but it’s just as photogenic as Venice. Every building is unique and beautiful in its own way, making it impossible to resist snapping a picture at every turn.
The Vltava River curves through the town, creating scenic spots perfect for photos. We saw plenty of boats rafting and canoeing along the river. If we had more time, I’d definitely try to do that too. It looks like such a fun way to experience the town from a different angle.
Český Krumlov has its own castle and is the second-largest in the Czech Republic, right after Prague Castle. Its origins date back to the 13th century.
And you can’t miss the Cloak Bridge at Český Krumlov Castle! It’s a multi-level bridge that connects different parts of the castle complex. The bridge has several tiers of arches and offers some of the best views over the town and the river.
Views from the top are amazing!
You can visit the castle grounds for free, explore the castle property, or pay to enter the castle itself. We decided to skip the castle interiors and just wander around outside. One of the coolest things we discovered was the live bears in the castle moat. Bears guarding the castle is a tradition that dates back centuries.
Rest of the time we just strolled around, took the different alleys and enjoyed Cesky Krumlov’s beauty.
